The unity of a nation depends mostly on its people's willingness to put aside their differences and work for the greater good. It also depends on its people's acceptance of how others are. Most people may find it difficult to make peace and unite with others because of lingering resentment, bitterness, grief, and an unwillingness to understand each other's different cultural and religious backgrounds. But to learn to forgive, one must first learn to understand. And that's exactly what we need to do to dissolve conflict and end unrest in our country and motherland.

We cannot just simply eliminate each other's beliefs from the face of the world or alienate people who think differently. To do so will be a huge mistake on everyone's part. (Look at the Crusades. Christian and Muslim alike tried to eliminate one another. Fat lot of good it did the Christians then. And fat lot of good it did the Muslims when the time of retribution came.) All of us have our own beliefs, and we all have a right to stand up for them. But that does not mean we can just go to war with each other for religion's sake. Such wars only make things worse and ravage an already ravaged country. We need to reach a mutual understanding and a mutual peace. We must learn ways of solving conflicts peacefully and without violence. A nation can only truly be called united when its separate races have lain down their arms and stopped fighting amongst themselves for fleeting supremacy. We all belong to one nation, one motherland. Muslim and Christian alike, we are Filipinos, whatever happens, the same blood runs in our veins. Isang lahi, isang dugo. Whatever happens, all of us, we are brothers and sisters. And we need to stand united for the trials our country is about to face. Always remember, united we stand, divided we fall.

We are one people in one nation. No conflict, no war can change that. We need to raise each other up and face the dawn of a new era together. We need to take the first steps towards peace and unity. And no matter what our outward appearances may be, whatever our religion is, our hearts pump the same blood into our veins: The blood of a Filipino.
Discrimination begets resentment. Resentment begets hatred. Hatred begets conflict. Conflict begets misery of all kinds. It's a vicious cycle that mankind has unfortunately never learned to control. I wish we could. Religious clashes are not the way to peace. Understanding is.

My editorial for our school paper. There's been a religious clash here in Mindanao lately. Luckily, it's not in our area, but it's still uncomfortably close.

Thanks a lot, Madame President.

EDIT: Iligan City was bombed today. Casualties have flooded here to Ozamiz. Pray it doesn't escalate into something worse.

Our president has no idea how to rule a country right. Ever since the Filipinos have elected her to office in 2001 she has done nothing to improve the Philippines. She made things worse. And now we're paying the price. This whole mess started with her signing a deal with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front giving them landwithout telling the public. The public, of course raised an uproar when we learned about it and there was a scuffle. God help our country now. Please, let this not escalate into a civil war.

Amen to that!
Though I would broaden it to the whole human race.

I can tell you is that a big worldwide change started a couple of months ago, and this world will change from it's current state. You can see it in every country across the world (and I don't mean just the economic crisis). BIG change is coming, and this 'man vs man' and 'man vs Earth' way of behaving is not gonna last trough that change..
This is the Era of Aquarius!

I just hope we wont have to survive another world war to see these better days..
